First, let me say thank you to the members of this Forum. There is a lot of information here and I am glad to have this resource available.

I started The West Virginia Food Locker program due to the growing amount of homeless, poverty stricken and hungry people in my state. 320,000 people in West Virginia live 200% below the poverty line. That is a staggering amount of people who can barely afford to feed themselves and their children from week to week.

The reason I am coming to this forum is because I really need to find ways to network, open up the exposure to my program and get it out there to all the people of the web. We are a 100% donation supported business and I am extremely interested in connecting with organizations, individuals, groups and anyone else who may be able to A) Help raise awareness B) Help Crowd-Fund our programs C) Contribute time/knowledge to the programs and D) Give valuable support, advice and information to further grow this organization.

The West Virginia Food Locker is about to launch it's second "Crowdfunding" campaign in hopes to raise enough money to purchase real property in West Virginia to grow our organization. The information can be found here: West Virginia Food Locker | WvFoodLocker (http://wvfoodlocker.org)

Once again, thank you all for your valued opinions and assistance. I look forward to talking with all of you!

Welcome to the forum WvFoodLocker. You're behind a great cause and we'll be happy to offer any thoughts we can to help you spread the word. Start some threads with any questions you have and join in any of the conversations that are already here.

Given what you do I would look to make connections with the press. You'll probably have plenty of human interest stories to share and all media likes to present human interest stories. If you don't have a PR person on staff, I think it would be good to get one.

Welcome again and thanks for joining the community.

Thank you for your responses. I recently celebrated my 32nd birthday on Oct 22nd and now it's time to get back to business.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to network with people here at the Forum.
One of the things that I am finding very difficult is to get any support for our "Crowdfunding" ventures. There are only a small few grant opportunities in the state of West Virginia that are designed to help organizations like ours. We are searching for private funding through local philanthropists and through the Crowdfunding programs, but we are just finding that people "Love the project" but "don't have the time or resources available to assist."

Has anyone here had luck with using crowd funding opportunities to raise money for their business/organizations?
