Yes, they did a great job setting ours up. I would recommend them.

What happened to my original post?

When you edited the post to add the links it ran up against a filter in place the prevents people new to the forum posting links. It's a common tactic of spammers to join the forum post a bunch of links and move on. Unfortunately the filter sometimes catches non-spammers too.

More unfortunate in your case is that added the links later whiled editing. There's a glitch somewhere in the software where even I can't approve those posts. They seem to just disappear even though the thread itself still exists. Sadly there's nothing I can do to get the original post to show. Fortunately you posted it again below and since the links were there from the start, I could approve the post thing time and have it be visible.

Sorry you got caught up in spam filters and software glitches. :)

It seems like I have everything in place to setup my online shop for selling supplements in Illinois.

Legalzoom wants to charge the following
LLC setup - $612
Their Fee- $99
Shipping- $10
Fed EIN- $80
-------------
Total= $801

Is it that hard to do it yourself?

Are these the correct links?
EIN(free)
https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/modiein/individual/index.jsp

LLC($500)
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/llc55.pdf
---------------
Total- $500

All I would need after that is a registered agent.
Legalzoom charges $160/yr for this service, any other options?

Should I run my site/store from the llc name or should I make a DBA?

What licences will I need to sell supplements online in Illinois?

--------------------------------------
Rest of the company:

Sitehosting and domain name through Dreamhost
$20 for the first year

Paypal for CC transactions
.30 + 2.9% per transaction

Zencart for the online shopping cart
Free

Anything else I would need or any suggestions?

Remember, LegalZoom is just a self-help service. Everything is being done at *your* direction - they are just providing an easier interface to the forms.

If you follow their guidance, and it turns out to be wrong, you're on the hook and paying for a professional to clean up the mess.

Simply setting up an LLC? Sure, I'd probably use them again for that.

So what your saying is if I have all my ducks in a row, I would be just as well off doing it myself.

What about my other questions in the above post?

You can do it yourself usually within minutes. Just google SOS "Your State Name" and it should bring up your secretary of state. There is no need to use legal zoom or a lawyer. I do believe your state is very expensive though.

here in WI you can form a LLC using the State Gov. website for $100

I think it took me 30 minutes
