How to start business/report income.

Hi, I have started selling boats and boat motors and would like to turn it into a business. I am in Maine. How do I go about starting my business? Do I simply record my costs and profits and report them from time to time or do I need to register? My business will be mostly selling boats and boat motors but would also like to service them as well.

You will need to register your business and hire an accountant. I'd recommend getting quickbooks online as a software to keep track of every business transaction (cost of goods sold, expenses, billing, etc.)

You can do it online, but my advice would be to hire an accountant, they can register the right one for you.
