Hi, guys! Wanted to make some short greetings.

You can call me Ryan. I'm originally from Latvia, EU but now I'm living almost for a year in Denmark. I own a small company that makes WordPress websites for other small companies. As well few web projects. Came here to get some tips and to give some of my tips away.

Hope to stay here for a long time.

Denmark way better living over here than in Latvia. You can read some things about Denmark in my blog. ( link in my signature ). + I decided that I want to study now. Studying IT here.

About Wordpress.
I would suggest using security. As I have seen to my clients and my web projects there will be many attacks on your site. It really depends on the site. I got one site that is attacked few times a week. I'm using plugins to check all that and ban/lock IP if someone tries to log in too much or try to do some bad things.

Updating plugins - always be careful when updating more than 3 plugins. Especially with Jetpack. Keep track of your site, cause sometimes Jetpack tends to die and make page white screen.

Whenever I see "Latvia" I immediately think of Dr. Doom from the old comic books but he was from "Latveria". Sorry, it is a Monday...welcome to the forums, Ryan!

I have used iTheme security: https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/ but I plan to give Wordfence a try: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/

Good old Dr. Doom. Something tells me Latvia was the inspiration for Latveria.


what's the best security to use

I haven't used either of the plugins Ryan mentioned, but I've only heard good things about them. If you don't mind spending some money, Automattic has a plugin called VaultPress (https://vaultpress.com/plans/). It does backups and security. How much depends on how much you're will to pay.


I plan to give Wordfence a try

Let us know what you think after you've had a chance to try it. I know I'd be interested and I'm sure others here would too.
