Hi recently found a domain named listverse.info on a auction site. When made a research on the exact match name listverse it has a total visitors of above 1 million. Have an idea of buying this domain with a cost of $5000 dollar and restablish the site with proper contents to get a large visitors. Want to know if buying this domain is a good idea, also would like to get suggestions about investing on exact match domains.

Are you serious? $5k for a .info? Weren't they giving those away a couple of years ago?

I don't care what exact match says, you will not make one thin dime on it, mainly because it's a trademark violation and the results you're getting are because there are content pages coming from the website listverse.com. Your site is just a copycat and I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down yet.

Listverse (http://listverse.com/) is a Trademark of Listverse Ltd.

At this point in the game the strategy of investing in "exact match" domains is pretty old school. "exact match" isn't what it used to be now that search engines and users are smarter and search in specifics, and using phrases.

Not only that, but it takes a lot of hard work to build traffic to a website. More work that it's worth if advertising revenue is your goal.

Domaining is not a good business model to get into anymore. Trying to piggyback someone elses success is also a bad business model that can only cause trouble. And you'd have to pay me $5k to use a .info for anything.
JMO of course.

Hi billy, Harold brings up a lot of good points. Here's questions you may want to ask.

The domain gets 1 million visitors. Have you verified this using reputable 3rd party tools (e.g. Google (http://www.google.com/analytics), Adobe (http://www.adobe.com/marketing-cloud/web-analytics.html), Clicky (http://clicky.com/), Webtrends (http://www.webtrends.com/), etc.)? The claim "1 million visitors" is worthless without verification (tools like alexa are inaccurate and relative).
Your target audience will be made up of people who are willing and able to buy (click ads in your case). Does the audience of listverse.info have people who are willing to read your content, click on your ads? Have you tested it to find out?
Is your (proposed) content for your site relevant to these 1 million visitors? Are these active unique visitors? How did the owners of the domain determine this?

You'll need more information to go on first. If it's worth it, you'll need a plan or strategy in place as to how you're going to keep those 1 million users. They may not like the changes you're going to make (assuming that this is real). I have some thoughts on strategy and tactics if you're set on doing this.

Good luck!

Andrew
