Hello,
I am relatively new at this so all the information I could get would be greatly appreciated.
So, I'm planning on starting a new business of course and already have funding and ideas in the works.
It is a clothing/fashion company and I would like to have certain products created in Mexico (I have plenty of friends and clients ready to help out there) but I would like to know the basics for importing products internationally, any laws or regulations I need be aware of? Taxes? Etc.
any help would be great!
Thank you!

Importing is not that hard. Basically you will need a customs broker. He will handle all the paperwork and they will get it through customs. Most things don't have an import tax but this can vary by item. Your customs broker can tell you if there is anything else needed. You don't say what quantities you will be importing but I am assuming it is less than a truckload. You or the shipper will have to arrange shipping. There are a number of companies that can transport goods from Mexico to the USA. Google should help with this. Prior to NAFTA shipping from Mexico to the USA was more difficult. Now it is pretty easy. There should not be much else you need to be aware of.

You will need
1. Customs Broker
2. Shipping company (Trucking company)

This is definitely not my area of expertise, but I searched a little and found a few things that will hopefully get you started.

Textiles and Trans-Pacific Partnership (PDF) (https://fas.org/sgp/crs/row/R42772.pdf)
New Import Duty & Taxes Calculation (http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/)
Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) (http://web.ita.doc.gov/tacgi/overseasnew.nsf/alldata/Mexico)

I think you probably want to contact government office in both Mexico and the U.S. and find out what you can about import/export laws, taxes, etc. between the two countries. Trade.gov (http://www.trade.gov/mas/ian/tradestatistics/) looks like it might have information to get you started. There an export.gov site, but I couldn't find a similar site for importing.

Hopefully one or more of the links lead you to the information you need.
