i am starting a new business which will be selling one line and brand of a cleaning product which is in a spray bottle.

what i want to know is, do i need to be vat registered or have a limited company?

sorry if it sounds daft but can somebody explain in a few simple steps what it is that i need to do to cover myself legally.

Sounds like you're from Europe. Since you're not from America I really can't give you a lot of advice. However, what I can tell you is it is always a good idea to register as a limited company, LLC, or whatever your country has. That registration could mean the difference between you having your assets or having them taken away ;)
