Hey, everyone. Cool forums. I've been doing some research and it seems I need to register a merchant account so I can start accepting credit cards for my small business. I've noticed some free merchant accounts out there and I'd just like to know the best route to take for a young entrepreneur who has little capital.

PayPal.com <--- most people have
2Checkout.com <--- a lot more professional imo if you want to accept credit cards straight on your site

Another option is Stripe (https://stripe.com/), which is online only.
If you need to physically take cards you could try something like Square (https://squareup.com/). PayPal also has a device to physically read cards (https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/credit-card-reader).

We use Paypal and have had very good results with it. We use Paypal Here at trade shows, and have also used Paypal at trade shows with our POS system. We take both Paypal payments and credit cards on our website. We've never had any difficulties.

I've also used Pay Pal for years with little to no problems.
I also Freshbooks for a little more accounting features. It also integrates with Pay Pal.

There's also Braintree.
