Hi everybody, my name is Sweder and i'm a 20 year old guy from the Netherlands.

I've always had ideas for businesses but never got around to putting them into practice. I don't have alot of experience with doing business, but i hope to improve that.

Welcome,

There's only one way to get the experience - start one and get selling.

Welcome!

I agree with Fulcrum! I myself learned from the school of...hard knocks.

Welcome to the forum, Sweder!

What kind of businesses are you thinking about starting?

Welcome to the forum Sweder. We were all new to this and lacking experience at some point. As long as you keep working the experience will come. I look forward to getting to know you and thanks for joining the community.

Welcome to SBF. I've always wanted to visit the Netherlands, my first internet friend lives there in Amsterdam I believe.

Wow! Thanks for all the responses, i really appreciate it. As for the question wich direction i'm looking into, the answer to that is that i have a idea for something to do with gambling on sport but i'm afraid that if i share the idea somebody might use it and create it faster than me.

I don't think people stealing other people's idea has ever been an issue here. Either way if it involves gambling and sports then anyone here who is American can't do it thus sports betting is illegal in the US.

well that's certainly a good thing to hear about idea's. Yeah the thing is that my idea might be a bit of a grey area in that but i'm not sure.

My cousin used to play the online Texas Hold'em and made a lot of money before the government cracked down on it.

What happened to him?

What happened to him?

Nothing happened to him. The government just came in and changed the ways the games were played online with all their rules, etc.

The laws are inconsistent here. For instance I can play casino games and bet via the sports book online and from my phone. The services/sites are only available to NV residents and are run by the already existing gaming companies.

Draft Kings and Fan Duel pushed the envelope and allow Fantasy Football better by skirting the rules claiming that it's not a game of chance but of skill. Everyone and their mother pretty much sees through that one, so now a bunch of states are evaluating whether or not they should allow them. A few states have already pulled the plug.

And then there are all kinds of membership sites out there for gamblers to get inside lines, tips, and all kinds of data and information to help them with their wagers.

So technically online gambling is against the law, unless you're in a state where it isn't. But talking about gambling and selling gambling tips, and data isn't against the law.
