I have a few favorite YouTube videos that are not business-related, yet have nurtured my spirit during those times when I've needed a bit of inspiration, especially when faced with the challenges of running my own business.

I would love to hear whether or not you have any YouTube faves and why. I believe that anything that inspires us as human beings also positively impacts our success in business.

One of my favorite videos is an oldie from 2006. It documents the rescue of roughly 200 horses stranded on a tiny island by a flash flood in the Netherlands. I only had to see this video once to recognize the value of taking a "leap of faith". It also taught me that a little bit of human ingenuity and creativity goes a long way: Netherlands Horse Rescue (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_BLSHl3EXU&feature=related)

Another video (viewed by almost 6 million so far) that never ceases to make me smile and reminds me that joy and confidence are infectious is this one from Antwerp Central, a train station in Belgium where, out of the blue, travelers were unexpectedly gifted with an amazing performance: Antwerp Central (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UE3CNu_rtY&feature=fvst)

It's amazing where one's professional inspiration can come from sometimes, isn't it?

Happy New Year everyone!

Karen

Very inspiring Karen. Unfortunately I guess the types of videos (outside of business or music) that pick me up are probably more crass or immature than what you are looking for.
My favorite video from last year does come from the inspiring T.V. show Amazing Race. A program that shows what you can accomplish by believing in yourself, teamwork, and perseverance:

Normally laughing at the misfortune of others isn't funny to me, but the first time I saw this the laugh was uncontrollable. There was nothing I could do to stop it.

Loved the Netherlands Horse rescue, Karen. My two favorite inspiring video clips are --

VALIDATION
YouTube - Validation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbk980jV7Ao)

AUTONOMY MASTERY PURPOSE
YouTube - RSA Animate - Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc&feature=related)

(Second one is business related but in such a general manner as to be life motivating, I think.)

Enjoy!

Happy New Year Karen.

You know I can't claim to have a favorite YouTube video. There are plenty I've seen and liked, but none that I would say have inspired me as you're describing. Most of the videos I've watched were either some instructional video, maybe showing off some software, or music. I tend to search YouTube to find a song on my mind or to find one I heard, but don't know. Tying in a line or two of a song into YouTube works well to get the song.

Here's a video that impressed me. It's from an artist using the program Brushes on an iPad to do a drawing of Beyonce (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__rPHTWxS4g). The program captures all your brush strokes to play them back later. What impresses me is less the program than just watching an artist create. The artiste Kyle Lambert has plenty of similar videos of other famous people. The one of Beyonce was the first I saw.

One of my favorite shows. I was watching when that happened. That couple came in second.

Have you seen some of these sand drawings? There are a host of them on YouTube. Very clever --
