I had a customer who found me on Angies list today. I have only 1 review so far

when i completed the work he asked me for the name of a good carpenter. I took this as a good sign he was happy with me.

I told him i would appreciate it if he could review me on Angies list.

should i ask for a review? or is it too agressive?

(i know many people who use Anglies list dont take the time to fill out the review)

I don't see anything wrong with asking for a review. The vast majority of people won't take the time to do it. Even when you ask them to, the amount who do will be very small.

I used to be uneasy about this too. But if you don't ask not many people will take the time of even think about it. I ask now. On the new site I'm trying to set up my portfolio as a showcase or promotion of my client's site and speak of them and their business, not just about me. It has helped with getting testimonials.
Before I used to just ask for a testimonial, now I ask for a testimonial so that I can showcase their business on my website. It's the same thing, but it appeals to them more and usually they get it out fast.
I don't know if something like that would work for you or not.
