Hello SBF community!

I'm Dries and I live in Belgium. At the moment I study Trade Science at the university of Ghent. I already got a bachelor degree in Accountancy & taxes.

Besides my studies I'm active in my dads car rental business. I take care of the marketing, webdesign, SEO, ... This year I've been able to start up 2 new locations for our business. I'm also a co-owner of two other companies. The first one is BSM (www.bluesnowmedia.com) we're we do the webdesign, marketing, SEO, complete refreshements, social media, .... for new or outdated companies. We're still a growing company but we do offer a great price/quality! The other business I'm a co-owner off is TW (TehWebz - Affordable hosting solutions. (http://www.TehWebz.com)), which is specialised in hosting (mainly VPS packages).

My hobbies are computer, consoles, going out, watching movies/ tv series, hanging out with my friends.

I hope I'll be able to get the maximum out of this forum, and hopefully I can contribute to the community!

Thanks,

Dries

Welcome to the forum Dries. You might be our first member from Belgium. Sounds like you're pretty busy with school and the 3 businesses too. You'll find a few of us here work in similar industries so I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about.

Thanks for joining the community.

You may also be the first who does web design yet also has a degree in accounting and taxes. I view that side of business as cruel and unusual punishment. I'm glad there are people who enjoy those tasks because I hate them with intense hatred. My view is, just tell me what needs to be done so I can make it happen, I don't need to be dragged down with details that sabotage my productivity.

Welcome to the SBF.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! :)

I have to admit I'm that enthousiastic about accounting & taxes either, it's just plain boring to do it as a job. There was one main why I choose to study that degree: gaining more knowledge into my future business. I want to know when I can afford to do an investment, I want to know when things are running good or not (having a profit/loss doesn't always represent you're doing well!).

A few months ago I had the possibility to invest into BSM, something I don't regret for a single second. While I take the financial tasks on me, I get the chance to gain some experience in the webdesign/SEO world.

I know one thing for sure, I will never ever .... ever want to be employed. Working for your own business gives me such a stimulance to get the best out of myself! :)

I think its great you're willing to learn things you don't enjoy because you know it'll help you in business. That's not easy to do, but it's definitely worth it.

Same here. I don't think I could ever go back to working for others.

An enthusiastic Amen to that! I think you'll find much agreement here on that sentiment.
