New Business Venture To Help New Small Business Owners

I am starting a long dream of mine to start a website to promote new small business owners.

The website is smallbusiness.org and here is the breakdown:

New (and existing) small business owner will sign-up their company to be reviewed. If they are chosen (most will) they will be featured a day on the website. This feature will include their company info and some quick interview question. Hopefully this site will help new business owners and create a platform for them to get some great web visibility.

I think it's going to be a difficult business to build. People try this sort of thing all the time, but there's a catch22 to it. In order for you to provide real value to the business your site has to already be popular and generating traffic. However, in order for you to do that you'll need to have the business there in the first place. I think this kind of business model either needs to start small, probably in a local community. You have to find a way to build a community around the local business scene and grow things until it can sustain itself.

The other way is to produce some kind of content outside of the business reviews that people come to the site to see. If you can generate traffic through that content you'll be able to then sell people on the review idea.

Good luck with this. I think it's a difficult business to get going, but it can be done.
